Lia Domenica Curci

Lia Domenica (Fragiacomo) Curci, 94, of Middletown, RI went home to be with the Lord on 5 March 2018 with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of the late John A. Curci of Philadelphia, PA.Born in Trieste, Italy, 2 January 1924, she was the daughter of the late Domenico and Maria (Spadaro) Fragiacomo. As an Italian teenager, she endured the tragedies of world war II and eventually married John, a U.S. Soldier. She would live most of her adult life in Vicenza, Italy raising her five children and working to provide for her family through her husband's illness and untimely passing. Four of her children moved to the U.S. to furhter their education and start families. Three of her sons completed 20+ years of distinguished careers in the U.S. Army. She traveled extensively throughout America and Europe sharing her time with her geographically seperated famly. In 2007, she moved to Rhode Island to be close to her daughter Maria on Aquidneck Island. Lia was well known for her gregarious and fun personality. She engaged people with warmth, humor, and a quick wit, always managing to make her loved ones laugh and turn everyone she encountered into a friend. She maintained lifelong friendships with people around the globe. She was always the center of love and social interaction, a gift she has passed to each of her children, but nothing in the world meant more to her than her children and her beautiful grandchildern. Her family was her life. She was widowed at the young age of 49 and never remarried. She successfully raised five kids, through sacrifice, hard work, and a great deal of love. She contributed to many charitable causes with a special place in her heart for young children, especially if they were ailing. She was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary, an avid bingo player, and an amazing cook. Lia leaves behind her children: Maria Householder (Devin) of Middletown, RI, Michael (Joyce) of Lorton, VA, Claude (Susan) of Collingdale, PA, David (Janet) of Middletown, PA, and Robert (Clara) of Villaverla, Italy, as well as 12 grandchildren; Sydney, Joanna , Lia, ,Kimberly, Ricky, Kelly, Michael, David, Stefano, Monica (Leo), Marco and Luca, a great grandson, Mattia, a niece, Marisa Brumat (Tulio), a nephew, Ugo Giller, a grandniece, Elizabetta Brumat, and a grandnephew, Walter Giller. Preceded in death by her sisters Rosita, Dinora (Omero.)Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday, 10 March at 08:00AM Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM at St. Lucy's Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown.
