IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linda
DeSimone
February 9, 1950 – March 21, 2026
Linda DeSimone, 76, of Middletown, Rhode Island, passed away on March 21, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by the love that defined her life.
Born on February 9, 1950, in Norfolk, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late August and Mary (Gazda) Kraus. Linda was raised in Middletown, a place she always considered home.
For 54 years, Linda shared a devoted marriage with her beloved husband, Russell DeSimone. She was the proud and loving mother of Heather Dickinson (Jeffery) and Jennifer Young (Ryan), and nothing brought her more joy than being "Nanny" to her grandchildren-Sofia and Bella Dickinson, and Ryder, Jack, and Sadie Young. She is also survived by her sisters, Shirly Smith of O'Fallon, Missouri and Patricia Burns of Newport, Rhode Island, her brother-in-law Robert DeSimone of Cranston, Rhode Island and eight nieces.
Linda's working years included serving as an administrative assistant at Raytheon Company in Portsmouth, Vitro Corporation in Middletown, Boys Town, and the dental office of Dr. Erik Johnson in Portsmouth. No matter where she worked, Linda was known for her steady presence, her kindness, and her willingness to help.
Linda found happiness in life's simple, beautiful moments: time at the beach, traveling and making memories, tending to her garden, and reading a good book on one of her latest found topics of interest. Her faith was a constant source of strength and comfort, and through it she formed many cherished friendships. Above all, she loved being with her family and friends-talking, laughing, and making everyday moments feel special.
Services will be private. If you wish to honor Linda, donations can be made to Memorial and Tribute Gifts ' Dana-Farber Cancer Institute or a charity of your choice, in Linda's memory. Visit memorialfuneralhome.com for online condolences.
