Lorraine B. Spafford

Newport, RI - Lorraine Bruorton Spafford, 86, of 398 Bellevue Avenue, Newport, RI, died Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at Heatherwood Nursing and Subacute Center, Newport, RI. She was the wife of the late Carl C. Spafford, Jr. Born in Melrose, MA on May 12, 1920, she was the daughter of the late John and Gladys Hobson Bruorton. Mrs. Spafford enjoyed writing poetry and took great pride in her children. She was a loving and well-loved person. She is survived by her daughters Roxanne Dorey Flanders of Portsmouth, RI, Susan Whitney of Middletown, RI, and Cathey Gidman of Ashford, CT, her son Christie M. Spafford of East Hartford, CT. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Cynthia H. Spafford. Her funeral will be Private.
