Lorraine Lena Cook

Lorraine Lena (Swazey) Cook, 87, of Lenox, MA formerly of Portsmouth, RI, passed away peacefully at home on December 25, 2016.Born in Skowhegan, ME on September 14, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Ernest H. and Faye (Sawyer) Swazey. Wife of the late George E. Cook, with whom she was married to for 57 years.Primarily, a homemaker, she also spent many years as a nursery school teacher, and, caring for children at her local children's home when she eventually went on to become a CNA and work with the elderly. She had such a zest for life, loved to travel and had a true passion for scrapbooking. But most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.She is survived by her children, Larry Cook of Portsmouth, RI, Jerry Cook, of Chambersburg, PA, Doreen Gerson and Colleen McDonough, both of Pittsfield, MA, her sister Dolly Blow of Vincent, OH, fifteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren.She was the mother of the late David Cook. Calling hours will be held on Monday January 2, 2017 from 4-7pm in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.Her funeral will be held on Tuesday January 3, 2017, at 11am, in Portsmouth Evangelical Friends Church, 11 Middle Road, Portsmouth, RI.Burial will be in Friends Cemetery, 11 Middle Road, Portsmouth RI.A Celebration of Life will be held at Greater Grace Church in Lee, MA, at a later time that is yet to be determined.
