Lucy Armoian Dunlea

Lucy Armoian Dunlea, 91, of Portsmouth passed away peacefully on the morning of August27, 2016 surrounded by her loving daughter and three loving granddaughters, with Frank Sinatra singing "My Way" in the background. Lucy was born January 1, 1925 in Boston, MA., and was the daughter of the late Harry and the late Nellie (Sarnessian) Armoian. Lucy was the wife of the late Francis Dunlea, sister of the late Jack Armoian and the late Aram Armoian, and loving mother of Debra Dunlea Seddon. She was also the very proud grandmother of Melanie, Laura, and Julia Seddon.Lucy's career spanned over 50 years, beginning in the Boston Shipyard as a welder, to support her family while her brothers were overseas during WWII. Next she took on the challenge of working in her family's Red White store in Island Park, often sharing stories of driving a paneled truck to pick up produce and meats for the store. This was followed by several years working for the Portsmouth School Department, and then many years at the Naval War College in Newport, where she retired at the age of 69.Lucy was a known enthusiastic, cheerleader at all her granddaughters' sporting events. She supported many causes, however, The Disabled American Veterans held a special place in her heart.
