Lydia R. Raposa

Lydia (Rebello) Raposa, 94, of Middle Road, Portsmouth, RI, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence.She was the loving wife of the late Manuel J. Raposa.Born in Fall River, MA on December 25, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Louisa (Rodrigues) Rebello.Mrs. Raposa was co-founder of Green Valley Country Club in Portsmouth, RI. She was also a seamstress at Globe Mills in Fall River, MA.She was a devoted mother to her son, Ronald Raposa and his wife Mary of Portsmouth, RI; her daughter, Louise Salo and her husband Wayne of Cranston, RI. She is also survived by her brother, Norbert Rebello of Portsmouth, RI, and leaves her adoring five grandchildren, Tara, Scott, Ryan, Greg and Eric, five great-grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter.In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Lawrence Rebello and Lionel Rebello, and her sisters, Mary Mascarenhas and Olive Correia.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 from 3:00-7:00 p.m., in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at 9:00am, from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am, in St. Barnabas Catholic Church, East Main Road, Portsmouth.Burial will follow in Trinity Cemetery, East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
