Mabel Ruth Hartsaw

Mabel R. Smallridge Hartsaw, 95, of Pine Forest Road, Pensacola, formerly of the Georgetown Apartments, Indian Avenue, Portsmouth, died Saturday, June 15, 2002 at the Sacred Heart Hospital, Pensacola. She was the wife of the late Theodore Hartsaw. Born in Russell, KY on May. 27, 1907, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Smallridge and the late Effie Hodges Smallridge.Also formerly of Holden, West Virginia, she had worked for more than 45 years as an elementary school teacher before retiring from the Logan County W.Va. Public School System. She moved to Portsmouth from Holden in 1985 and to Pensacola in 1997. Mrs. Hartsaw had attended Calvary United Methodist Church in Middletown. She enjoyed cross stitch and traveling. She is survived by one son, David R. Hartsaw of Pensacola, FL; one daughter, Ruth Alley of Middletown, RI; and 3 Grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Dallas Smallridge, Loreen Young and Aileen Young. A graveside funeral service will be led at the Newport Memorial Park, Howland Avenue, Middletown, Wednesday, June 19, at 1:00pm.
