Margaret Joyce

Margaret Frances Joyce, age 94, of Middletown died Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at home. Mrs. Joyce was born July 11, 1923, in Portsmouth, RI, the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Sylvania (Mendonca) Rogers. She was the wife of the late Robert D. Joyce. Margaret worked as a nurse for several doctors in the area for many years. She was a past Personal Director of Service at the United Baptist Church, past president of the Aquidneck Business Professionals, past president for the Newport Council of Republican Women, past president and treasurer of Chapter 869 of Federal Employees Navy League, and a member of the Middletown Garden Club. In her spare time, she enjoyed sailing, travelling, and attending her husband's ship reunions with her daughter, and enjoyed shopping with her daughters. She also loved to crochet, knit, play work search games, scratch tickets and never missed a chance for a good game of Rummy.She is survived by her two daughters: Rhoda P. Fish and her husband William J. of Tiverton, RI, and Deborah Joyce of Middletown, RI, many nieces and nephews, and her loving dog, Peppie.She was predeceased by her siblings, Joseph Rogers, Donald Rogers, and Virginia Richard.Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018, from 5-8PM, at the Hambly "Brick House" Funeral Home, 30 Red Cross Avenue, Newport, RI.Her funeral will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at 11:00AM, at the United Baptist Church, 30 Spring Street, Newport, RI.
