Marilyn F. Seliga, 64, of Newport, Rhode Island, passed away on October 13, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Newport on November 9, 1960, she was the daughter of the late Larry Wall, a U.S. Naval veteran, and Pauline (Sylvester) Wall. Marilyn grew up in Newport and worked for many years as a nurse's aide and housekeeper at the Newport Naval Hospital and Heatherwood Nursing Center. Later, she enjoyed working at the former Sig's Market in the Fifth Ward.
Marilyn was an extremely gentle, soft-spoken, and kind woman with a generous heart. She would literally try to help anyone she could. Some of her favorite pastimes included sitting by the ocean, enjoying the sounds of the waves while taking in the sereness , swimming in the ocean , and listening to music. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, Jayda and Jose, when they were young.
She is survived by her children, April (Seliga) Rios, Russell Croteau and his wife Jessie; her beloved grandchildren, Jayda and Jose Rios; and her siblings, Leona Gonzalez, Dottie Mock, Patti Spencer, Jimmi Hill, Linda Harrison, Bruce Wall, Carolyn Ocassio, Larry Wall Jr., and Steven Wall as well as many nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was predeceased by her parents, as well as her brothers Donald Wall and Paul Hill, and her sisters Brenda Lindell and Sherry Sanders.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 9th, from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, followed by service at 3:00 p.m. A private burial will take place in Middletown Four Corners Cemetery.
