Marjorie Kazin Boyce, 68, of Jamestown, died April 30, 2016. She was born Mar 18, 1948 the daughter of Genevieve Kazin and the late Frank Kazin of Portsmouth, RI. Marjie graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1966, University of Rhode Island, BA English, 1970; M. Education, Providence College 1980; MBA University of Rhode Island, 1991; and Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, Rhode Island College and University of Rhode Island 2013.Before her retirement from Ponaganset High School in 2010 she served as the Director of Guidance, Guidance Counselor, Instructor of Reading and English Communication Skills, and Intensive Resource Special Education Teacher and Tutor. Marjie was named as a Regent Fellow, Rhode Island Department of Education in the Teacher Preparation, Certification and Professional Development Office from 2003 through 2007. In the role of a Regent Fellow she helped implement mentoring training programs for school districts statewide. She promoted Co-teacher Collaborative Inclusion Program Models under the direction of the National Council for Exceptional Children. Prior to Ponaganset Marjorie taught at Aldridge Jr. High School in Warwick. From 1974 to 1976 she taught language arts in London, England. She serviced as the President of the Sunset Farms Home Owners Association in Jamestown. Recent summers, she assisted visitors to Watson Farm, a Historic New England, in Jamestown. Marjorie is survived by her husband, Milton Boyce of Jamestown, her mother Genevieve of John Clarke Nursing Center, sisters Linda (husband Al) Roy of Arizona; Judith Kazin Cooper (fiance James Studders), Karen Kazin (husband Jan Hagerstrom) , and Nancy Browne (husband Pete Browne ) all of Portsmouth. Nieces and Nephews: Cindy Lam, Allison Roy, Rachel Cooper, Sam Browne and Jessie Browne. Missing her are Fenway the Boston Terrier, and Baby-Oh the cat of Jamestown. Marjorie was a close friend of many years to college classmates, fellow teachers, and Newport summer friends. Most important to her was spending time with her family and friends. She was well traveled to Europe, Russia, Caribbean and the British Isles with her college friends and fellow teachers. Favorite destinations included Hilton Head Beach, Grand Canyon, and Kauai, Hawaii. Hobbies include sailing, gardening, golf, downhill skiing, and reading. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Cape Cod Beaches, and Downeast Maine were favorite weekend travel destinations.
