Mark S. Pinto, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025 with his devoted wife by his side. He fought a brief but courageous battle of cancer with his family supporting him throughout this journey.
Mark was born in Newport on July 6, 1963 to Agnes and John Pinto Jr. Mark was raised in Middletown, Rhode Island on Peckham Avenue, living in a community among his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins next to their family farm.
He graduated from Middletown High School in 1981, After graduation he enlisted in the Army, he was a proud U.S. Army Cavalry Scout from 1983 to 1985, serving with 3rd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. Mark served with honor and distinction, earning the coveted M16 Marksmanship Award, the Army Service Ribbon, and the Army Achievement Medal. His courage, dedication, and camaraderie left a lasting impact on his fellow soldiers and all who knew him. Mark's legacy of service and sacrifice will be cherished by his family, friends, and community.
A lifelong collector, Mark had a deep passion for non-fiction war histories, with a particular admiration for stories of the army. His shelves overflowed with volumes that reflected his interest for knowledge, and he took great pleasure in sharing what he learned with anyone who'd listen. Beyond books, he collected coins and pieces of historical military art. Mark had a creative eye, often taking up the camera to capture family moments behind the lens. In quieter moments, he found joy in the kitchen, delighting in cooking for those he loved.
Mark was a dedicated employee at Indus Technology, he was also employed by Sodexo part time working at Salve Regina University and Portsmouth Abbey.
Mark leaves behind his loving wife of fourteen years, Pransakul Pinto of Bristol, RI and two step sons Jake Silvia of Madison, AL and Alex Silvia of Little Rock, AR. As well as his brother, John Pinto III and his wife Julie, along with their three children Sebastian, Alexis and John Henry of Middletown, RI.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents Agnes Pinto and John Pinto Jr., as well as his first wife Amy (Silvia) Pinto.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place at Jesus Savior Church, 509 Broadway, Newport, RI on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 9:30 AM. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Columba Catholic Cemetery, 465 Brown's Ln., Middletown, Rhode Island.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mark's memory to the American Cancer Society.
