Marlene Cherry

Marlene (Heath) Cherry, 63, of Fall River, MA passed away peacefully on August 9, 2018 at Rhode Island Hospital. Marlene was born in Newport, RI on September 11, 1954, to the late Etelka M. Heath and Charles R. Carter. Marlene attended Newport Public Schools and furthered her education in Virginia and Michigan. Though she worked various jobs over her lifetime, Marlene found one to be the most fulfilling as a teachers aide at the James L. Maher Center on Hillside Avenue in Newport, RI.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her son Albert L. Heath and his wife Karla Heath of Anthem, AZ, her daughter Etelka M. Cherry and her husband Antoine Mack of Boston MA, her sister Charlene Striggles and her husband Charles of Fall River Ma. Marlene also leaves behind one aunt, Barbara L. Williams of Newport, nine granddaughters, one grandson, one great granddaughter as well as numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. She is predeceased by her husband, Charles Cherry, her twin sister Darlene Heath, and her two brothers, Albert and Harry Holley.

Visiting hours for Marlene will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 from 11:00 1:00 at Memorial Funeral Home on 375 Broadway in Newport, RI followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations made in her memory may be sent to the Martin Luther King Center, 20Dr Marcus Wheatland Blvd, Newport, RI 02840.
