Martin Paul Lynch, 94, died in the arms of his loving wife on Thursday, May 22nd, 2025, at the John Clarke Retirement Center, Middletown, RI.
He was born May 28th, 1930, in Framingham, Massachusetts, one of seven boisterous Lynch siblings. He served in the US. Navy from 1950-53, was a veteran of the Korean War, and was stationed in Newport Rhode Island. He married Evelyn Fitzpatrick of Natick, MA in 1951, and the newlyweds returned to Aquidneck Island where they raised their family in Portsmouth, RI.
Marty worked as a union carpenter for Fall River local 1305 until his retirement in 1980. He was active in both the American Legion Post 18 and the VFW Post 5390 in Portsmouth.
Marty is survived by his wife of 74 years, Evelyn Lynch, His daughter, Shanon Nott and her husband Michael of South Dartmouth, MA, his son James Lynch and his wife Nancy of Swansea, MA, his daughter, Diane Kerins and her husband Michael of Middletown, RI, his granddaughters Jennifer Hudson and Maggie Kerins, his grandson, Liam Kerins and his wife Emily, and his great-granddaughter Poppy Kerins.
He is pre-deceased by his siblings, Francis Lynch, Donald Lynch, Gwen Knapp, John Lynch, Rita Lynch-Knapp, Cornelius (Connie) Lynch, and his great-granddaughter, Jayla Hudson.
Marty was happiest when he was surrounded by his wife and kids and grandchildren, his brothers and sisters, and his many, many nieces and nephews. He was everyone's favorite uncle, always quick with a tease or joke. He was loved by the John Clarke community.
A Memorial Service will be held for Marty at Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI on August 9th at 11:00 am.
