.Marvin Adam Scott was born to Navin and Louella Scott on April 8, 1926 in Williamston, N.C. He was the eldest of five children, the late Neil and Howard Scott and Florence Powell.
Scottie, as he was known by his family, neighbors and friends, is survived by his sister, Ann Bailey and cousin, Floritta Johnson both of Baltimore, Maryland.
Scottie graduated from high school and received an Associates Degree in Law Enforcement from Salve Regina College. He served proudly in United States Navy on the USS Johnston and was a veteran of World War II.
Scottie was a dock builder on the Newport Bridge and spent the rest of his career as a Security Guard for the United States Navy. Upon his retirement in 1988 and not one to sit idle; Scottie along with his partners founded MSM Security and Patrol. He was a lifetime member of Trinity Lodge #183 and supported the Salesian Missions.
God called Scottie home to rest on November 15, 2018. He will be remembered for his beautiful smile, his sense of humor and his love for movies and music. He was predeceased by his son Marvin Johnson, daughter Anita Neal (Norris) and great grand-daughter, Jenea Jefferson.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Yvonne Hicks of Lithonia, GA, Dr. Veronica Sims (Howard) of Caldwell, NJ, Corrine Brown of Orange, NJ, Mary Pritchard of Middleborough, MA, his devoted son Gary Key (Elaine) of Newport, RI, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday November 30, 2018 from 10:00 AM - 12:00PM in Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway in Newport. His funeral service will be held immediately following calling hours at 12:00 pm in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park 123 Howland Avenue in Middletown
