Mary C. Mello

Mary C Mello, 99, of Portsmouth died Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, MA. Mrs. Mello was born April 20, 1918 in Swansea, MA. She is the daughter of the late Antone and the late Mary (Borges) Souza. She was married to the late Edward S Mello for 46 years.. Mary was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a very hard worker all her life, and on top of working, she and her husband, Edward, raised 7 wonderful children. Mary loved cooking, and could make a delicious meal from nothing. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Allen Mello and his wife Laurie, of Little Compton, RI, John S. Mello and his companion, Brigid Walsh, of Portsmouth, Linda Calabretta and Doreen Ziccardi. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.She is preceded in death by her children, Marie Dietz, Edward S. Mello Jr., Noreen Critchly, and her son-in-law Dominic Calabretta. Calling hours will be held on Friday December 15, from 1pm-4pm and 5pm-8pm in Connors Funeral Home 55 West Main Road in Portsmouth, RI.Her funeral will be held on Saturday December 16, 2017 at 9am from the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Anthonys Church 2836 Eat Main road in Portsmouth, RI.
