Mary Chatterton Clarke

Ms. Mary Clarke, age 102, formerly of Newport, passed away on August 16, 2018 at the Royal Middletown Nursing Home. Mary was born in New London, CT to William L.W. Clarke and Bertha (Chatterton) Clarke.
She received a Bachelor of Science from Brown University. She also received a Masters Degree in Religious Education from Hartford Seminary. Mary was a Newport Schoolteacher at the Lenthal and Mumford Schools. Mary then retired from MacLaughlin Research in 1996 where she was a technical proof reader. For several years Mary lived at the AHEPA on Gerard Ave, and previously at Equality Park West. She was a talented pianist and was a longtime member of the Hillside Baptist Church in Newport.
Mary is survived by a niece Patricia Clarke of Ocala, FL and a nephew, Chester Clarke and his wife Valerie of Ellicott City, MD, as well as her grandnieces and grandnephew, Yolanda, Sarah and James, and great grandnephew Nikola.
She was preceded in death by her brother William T. Clarke and sister Jane Holbrook.
Funeral services will be private.
