Mary Ellen (Russell) Schoenbucher, 77, of Portsmouth, RI, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2016 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston, MA.She was the devoted wife of Paul E. Schoenbucher.Born on February 3, 1939 in Rutland, VT, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Mary (Collins) Russell. Mary Ellen was a passionate teacher of 35 years who touched the lives of countless children in Lyndonville, Proctor and Castleton, VT; Ogdensburg, NY; and at Cranston-Calvert School in Newport. Playing golf provided her endless enjoyment and entertainment. She was a member of Montaup Country Club where she was also secretary of the MWGA for many years. She was often heard saying "I may not be the best golfer, but I did have three holes-in-one, something Paul was unable to accomplish in his 60+ plus years of golf." Mary Ellen loved to be outdoors, spending time walking with friends, tending to her gardens or just being outside. She also found great pleasure in following her grandchildren's many activities.Besides her husband of 55 years, she is survived by her sons, Carl W. Schoenbucher of Durham, NH and P. Eric Schoenbucher and his wife Gina of Barrington, NH, her siblings, John A. Russell, Jr. of Bonita Springs, FL, James Russell of East Dorset, VT, and Martha Wade of Bend, OR and her five grandchildren Adam, Ethan, Madison, Caroline and Gus Schoenbucher.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 from 4-7 p.m. in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.Services and internment will be held in Rutland, VT at a later date.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Brain Tumor Association at www.abta.org Visitation JUL 13. 04:00 PM - 07:00 PM Connors Funeral Home 55 West Main Road Portsmouth, RI, US, 02871 info@memorialfuneralhome.com http://www.connorsfuneralhome.com
