Merlina Malimban Manglicmot

Sep 19, 1949 — Aug 14, 2026

It is with deep sorrow and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Merlina Malimban Manglicmot, who passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026, at Newport Hospital Rhode Island U.S.A. She was 76 years old.

Merlina was born on September 19, 1949, in the Philippines. In August 2024, she came to the United States and made her home with her beloved daughter Lyn Stratton, where she spent the remainder of her life surrounded by family and love.

Merlina was devoted mother, caregiver and woman of deep Christian faith. She was a beloved member of the United Methodist Church, where she cherished fellowship, worship, and church activities. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she carried that faith with her in the way she cared for and loved others.

She was a caring and compassionate woman who always placed the needs of others before her own, especially her family. Her generosity, kindness, and willingness to care for those around her touched the lives of many. She found joy in simple things, including cooking, knitting, attending church, worship, shopping, she loves flowers, and spending time with those she loved Mae and Lyn.

During her time in the United States, Merlina enjoyed creating special memories and experiencing new places. She visited the Statue of Liberty in New York City, The White House in Washington DC., Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and many more. And many restaurants throughout New England. These experiences brought her happiness and gave her family treasured memories that they will carry with them always,

Merlina is lovingly survived by her daughters, Mae Fowler and Lyn Stratton, and her sons John Fowler and Issac Staples. She will be deeply missed by her children, siblings, church family and friends. And all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Merlina's life was defined by love, faith, compassion, and service to others. Her gentle spirit and caring heart will remain in the memories of those she leaves behind.

Though she is no longer with us, her love will continue to live on in the hearts of her family. She leaves behind the legacy of faith, kindness and unconditional love that will never be forgotten.

May she rest peacefully in the loving arms of God.
