Michael Lee Woll

Michael Lee Woll, 66, of Portsmouth died Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at home surrounded by his loved ones.Born on born July 27, 1950 in Sioux City, IA, he was the son of the late Leo and Gertrude (Beaubien) Woll. Michael was born and raised in Iowa, and left school at 18 to join the US Marine Corps. He served three tours in VietNam and received a Purple Heart for injuries received in battle. After his active duty, he worked for several years as a carpenter, enjoyed horses and riding his Harley Davidson and remained a gifted athlete. He enjoyed baseball, often coaching his children when they were young, and also enjoyed surfing. Mike was also a loyal member of the Wounded Warrior Project.He is survived by his children Thomas J. "TJ" Woll and his wife Abby of Portsmouth, RI, Christopher Woll and his wife Kelly of Millbury, MA and Nicole Woll of Tiverton, RI. He leaves two siblings, Dennis Woll of Arizona and Dee Akland of South Dakota. He also leaves six grandchildren, Kyle, Mikaela, Michael, Mackenzie, Wyatt and Thomas.He was preceded in death by his son Michael Woll in 2006.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, from 10-11 in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, followed by a service at 11:00AM in the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.
