Michael Nicholas Keselica

Michael Nicholas Keselica, 80, of Nazareth, PA, formerly of Newport, RI, died Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at St. Lukes Hospital in Bethlehem, PA. He was the husband of the late Monique (Loichot) Keselica.Born on December 16, 1935 in Elizabeth, NJ, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Bilanin) Keselica. Mr. Keselica served in the United States Navy during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He served three years in Paris and four years in London, where his primary duty was serving on the staffs and commands, where he was a Mustang and rose to the rank of LTCDR. Mr. Keselica owned and operated Foremost Mortgage Association Int. for 11 years and also worked for Fleet Bank as Senior Vice President for 17 years, retiring in 1994. Mr. Keselica served on the planning committee for the City of Newport, where he received an award for the longest served. He also served as Chairman of the Board for RI Mortgage and Finance Corporation. Mr. Keselica was affiliated with community groups to assist in affordable housing and was instrumental in bringing Lisc Clocal initiative support corp. to Rhode Island and served as 1st chairman on the advisory committee for three years.He is survived by his sons Michael G. Keselica of Rhode Island, and Mark A. Keselica and his wife Colleen (Spencer) Keselica of Pennsylvania, his brother-in-law Steven Vermeulen, husband of the late Maryann (Keselica) Vermeulen of New Jersey, his grandchildren, Nicole Keselica of Washington, DC, Thomas and wife Tabitha (Lantz) Keselica of Pennsylvania, Noelle Keselica of Maryland, Veronica Keselica of North Carolina, Andrea (Keselica) and husband Mark Fisher of Pennsylvania, and Taylor Keselica of Pennsylvania, his great grandchildren, Nathan and Rylee Keselica of New Jersey and Alexis Lantz of Pennsylvania.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, from 4-7pm in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2016at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.His burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery, Browns Lane, Middletown, RI.In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Robert Potter League for Animals, PO Box 412, Newport, RI 02840.
