Anthony J. Woidyla

Anthony J. Woidyla, 89, of Portsmouth, RI, formerly of Foster, RI, died on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, MA. Anthony was born September 28, 1928 in Haverhill, MA, the son of the late Anthony J. and Blanche (Najuch) Woidyla. He was married to Rita G. (Boffi) Woidyla for the last 60 years.Mr. Woidyla served in the Navy for one assignment where he performed with the Navy Jazz Band. He was a 1959 graduate of RISD with a degree in sculpting. For the majority of his professional career he worked as a graphic artist and owned his own design firm, Graphic Workshop, Inc in Providence, RI.He was active in local politics and served as Tax Assessor in Foster. He also served on the building committee for Ponaganset High School and as chairman of the Foster-Glocester school committee.He is survived by his wife Rita (Boffi) Woidyla of Portsmouth, and two daughters: Stephanie Fontes and her husband Stephen of Portsmouth, RI and Heather Yueng and her husband Kong of Scranton, PA, and one granddaughter, Gabrielle Fontes of Portsmouth, RI.The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 9, at 10:00am in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.Additional information at www.memorialfuneralhome.com Mass NOV 9. 10:00 AM St. Barnabas Catholic Church 1697 East Main Road Portsmouth, RI, US
