Brian E. Alphonse

Brian Edward Alphonse, age 54, of Newport died Sunday, October 23, 2016, at Newport Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Alphonse was born May 6, 1962 in Taunton, MA. He is the son of the late John J. Alphonse of Taunton, MA and Yvonne M. (Cyr) Alves of FL; widower of the late Ellen J. (Baasch) Alphonse of Westport, MA.Brian worked as a fisherman on the docks in Newport, RI and as a carpenter locally. He also enjoyed working on cars as a mechanic and auto body restoration during his younger years.He is survived by two daughters: Bonnie Lynn Zeller of Taunton, MA, and step-daughter Ashley Aguiar of New Bedford, MA, and two sons: Kevin M. Alphonse of East Freetown, MA and Brian E. Alphonse, Jr. of Newport, RI; step-mother Mrs. Janice Alphonse of Taunton, MA. He leaves two sisters, Deborah L. Mullaney of Whitman, MA and Renee Botticelli of Canton, MA, and two brothers: John J. Alphonse, III of NC and Eric Alphonse of Norton, MA, and several nieces and nephews.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, from 5:00-7:00pm, with reflections being shared at 6:45pm, in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Lung Association, 260 West Exchange Street, Suite 102-B, Providence, RI 02903.
