Ronald J. Paquette, 74, of Portsmouth died on Friday, March 9, 2018 at St. Annes Hospital of Fall River. Ronald was born March 31, 1943 in Fall River, MA, the son of the late Emile and Jeannette (Labrecque) Paquette. Ronald grew up in Fall River and began work at Frito Lay as a driver and forklift operator. Ronald earned the nickname Porky while working as an auto mechanic at Charlie Jacksons garage. He soon began a long career at Kaiser Aluminum in Portsmouth. While raising his family, he was an active volunteer with the boy scouts, but his passion was always baseball, and devoted many hours to youth baseball, both as a coach and as an umpire. After his day job was over, he spent many more hours working as an auto mechanic. For the last several years, he was working at Boston Insulated Wire. Ron was a dedicated parishioner of the New Hope Church in Swansea, MA. He was interested in WWII history as well as all things baseball. He will be missed for his quiet sense of humor.He is survived by a daughter Kimberly Paquette of Tiverton, and a son Kevin Paquette and his wife Sabrina of Portsmouth, his former wife, Catherine (Reynolds) Paquette of Tiverton, RI, a sister Janice St. Rock of Fall River, MA and his grandchildren, Shane Paquette, Matthew Paquette both of Tiverton, RI, Kyle Paquette of Camp Lejeune, NC, Joshua Paquette of Lackland AFB, TX, Kevin Paquette and Jacqueline Paquette, both of Tiverton, and Benjamin and Anastasia Inman of Portsmouth.Ronald was predeceased by his brother, Robert Paquette.The Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 6:00pm in New Hope Christian Church, 1436 Grand Army Highway (Route 6), Swansea, MA.
