William D. Walden

William David Walden, 69, of Providence died Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the VA Medical Center in Providence, RI. William was born August 11, 1948 in Sarasota, FL, the son of the late William Boyd Walden and Lillian (Hawthorne) Walden. He was the husband of the late Janet (Auditore) Walden. William grew up Florida and joined the USMC as a young man. He served in Vietnam for four years.He worked for several years with Orkin Pest Control in Florida, then moved to Rhode Island. He worked with the state DOT and later with Stop Shop in Newport. He was a loyal Miami Dolphins fan. He was a devoted to his wife of 40 years, to the late Janet Walden. He is survived by three sons: William Joseph Walden of Providence, Sean and Stacey Walden of Warren, and Troy Walden of Newport, two brothers Michael Walden and Mark Walden both of Sarasota, FL, and two beloved grandchildren, Shayla Walden and Anthony Walden, both of Warren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister Linda Walden.Visitation will be Tuesday, November 7 from 10:00am-11:00am at Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, followed by a burial service with military honors at 12:00noon at Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI.
