Ana Z. Escobar, 82, of Middletown died Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Kent County Memorial Hospital in Warwick, RI. Ana was born February 2, 1935 in Faial, Azores. She is the daughter of the late Joao and Maria Jesus Pereira. She was the wife of the late Manuel Escobar. Ana moved here with her family, from the Azores. She and her husband loved living on Aquidneck Island and they were both longtime members of Jesus Savior Church in Newport. She loved crocheting and being involved in the lives of all of her nieces and nephews, often giving them spiritual guidance. She is survived by her brother Joao Pereira of Newport and sister Bernardete Goulart of the Azores, and many nieces and nephews including Rev. Joseph Escobar of Providence, Durval Goulart of Cranston, Manuel Furtado of Fall River, Manuel Goulart of the Azores, and Elizabeth Goulart of Pawtucket.She is preceded in death by her sisters Filomena Faria and Maria Costa.Calling hours will be Friday, September 1, 2017 from 6:00-8:00pm at Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.Her funeral will be on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 9:30am form the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in Jesus Savior Church, 509 Broadway, Newport, RI.
