Marcella (Finn) Del Nero, 89, passed away peacefully into eternal life at her home in Newport. She was married to the late Judge Paul J. Del Nero for 48 years. Born in Newport, RI on March 7, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Irene (McShara) Finn.Marcy grew up in Newport and was a 1947 graduate from St. Catherine Academy. She received a BS in Mathematics from the College of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station, NJ. She pursued her Master's in Education at the University of Rhode Island and Salve Regina University. Marcy spent 35 years as an elementary school teacher at the John Clarke School and Cranston Calvert in Newport, as well as at Elmhurst School in Portsmouth where she also served later as Principal. In retirement, she was as a tour guide at the Breakers. She spent many years volunteering at St. Clare Home. Until recently, Marcy enjoyed volunteering at the Potter League for Animals. Throughout her life, she enjoyed exploring the world with her husband. Paul and she could be found every sunny summer day sharing stories with her lifelong friends Ruth, Eula and Marie at Peabody's Beach in Middletown. She is survived by her daughter Tracy L. Rascher and her husband Bruce of Amsterdam, NL, two grandsons Max and Simon Rascher, and her daughter Moira K. Del Nero of Ft. Myers, FL, her sister Irene Cozzens of Portsmouth, RI, and her sister in law Trudi Finn of South Windsor, CT, and will be dearly missed by her bonus son Kevin Ring of Newport, and several nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and many very dedicated caregivers.Marcy is predeceased by her husband Paul, her cherished son Paul J. Del Nero, Jr and her brother Thomas J. Finn, Jr.Marcy leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and generosity that her family, friends, former students and all who were blessed to know her will treasure forever. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Her funeral will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 9:00am, from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am, in St. Marys Church, Spring Street, Newport.
