Rita Catherine Morris

Rita Catherine Morris, 102, of Portsmouth died Friday, April 21, 2017 at St. Clare Home in Newport. Rita was born December 20, 1914 in Tiverton, RI, the daughter of the late Antone and Catherine (Fernandes) Jerome. She was the wife of the late Joseph Francis Morris. Rita worked as a supervisor for many years at the Berkshire Mill in Warren, RI. She later worked for several years at Transcom. Rita was a longtime communicant of St. Anthonys Church, and enjoyed using her hands, both in the garden and creating crochet.She is survived by two sons: Joseph Morris and his wife Joan of Aztec, NM and Andrew M. Morris, of Portsmouth, RI, two sisters; Ruth Bento of Tiverton, RI and Catherine Dennis of Indiana, and her brother Edward Jerome of Tiverton, RI. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and many great grandchildren.She is preceded in death by her siblings, Joseph, Paul and Frank Jerome and Mary Jerome, Calling hours will be Tuesday, April 25 from 1pm-4pm at Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 26 from Connors Funeral Home at 9:00am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
