Shirley Fay (Frazier) Cochran, 87, of Newport died Friday, February 2, 2018 at Royal Middletown Nursing Center in Middletown.Born in Newport, she was the daughter of the late John and Reliance (Cook) Frazier.Shirley was a member of the VFW Woman's Auxiliary, Post 4487 in Middletown, RI.She was a member of the Park Holm Senior center of the Newport Housing AuthorityShe leaves her children Shirley F. Araujo, Frank E. Aguiar, both of Newport, Roger A. Aguiar and his wife Anne of Virginia Beach, VA and James A. Aguiar of Bartlesville, OK.Shirley was the sister of Joan Alvanas of Portsmouth. She was the aunt to many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to her niece Jane Foss and all of her nieces who helped her throughout her life.She was the mother of the late Susan L. Stroup, grandmother of the late John Stroup and sister of the late John Frazier, Lillian Spooner and Barbara Oakley. She was an avid Bingo player. She loved her Boston Red Sox and considered herself a New England Patriots grandmother. She enjoyed spending time playing cards with the residents of her AHEPA building.Calling Hours will be held Sunday, February 11, 2018 from 1:00PM - 3:00PM in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.
