Virginia Dutra Dosouto

Virginia Dutra Dosouto, 84, of Middletown, RI, passed away on October 23, 2017, at Silver Creek Manor in Bristol, RI. She was born February 9, 1933 in Praia do Norte, Faial, Azores to the late Jose and Maria Moitoso. She married Mario Dosouto on July 27, 1968, he sadly passed away on May 8, 2013.Virginia is survived by her son, Sergio Dosouto and his wife Isabel, along with their 3 children Megan, Sarah and Sergio, all of Middletown, RI. She is survived by her youngest son, Joe Dosouto and his wife, Jill, off Middletown, RI, and their 3 children, Franchesca in Orlando, FL, Tanner in Athens, West Virginia and Landon in Middletown, RI. She is also survived by her 2 brothers in Canada, 2 sisters in California and 1 sister in Faial. She also leaves behind her brother in laws, and sister in laws in Middletown, Along with many nieces and nephews spread out.Virginia is preceded in death by her loving husband, Mario, and her parents. She is also preceded in death by 5 sisters, 2 brothers, and 2 nephews.Virginia grew up in the island of Faial, in the Azores. She left there while they were having volcano eruptions. She moved to California with her sisters. She lived there for a while and in 1968, while in Faial, she met Mario who was vacationing there. They met again, after being only acquaintances, fell in love and were married that July. They moved between New York and Middletown, RI. They made Middletown their permanent home in 1988. Virginia's son Joe and their family moved to Middletown to be her full time caretakers for 3 years, as she was suffering with Dementia. In April of 2016, her Dementia really took hold, therefore, she was moved into Silver Creek Manor in Bristol, RI. Silver Creek Manor took amazing care of her, and she was very happy to be surrounded by people that spoke Portuguese and she could share stories with. She touched many lives.Visitation will be held 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, on Thursday October 26, 2017 at Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway Newport, RI 02840A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday October 27, 2017 and Jesus Saviour Church 1 Vernon Street Newport, RI.
