Nancy James Pavlik, born to the late John and Shirley James in Hartford, CT in 1949, and a resident of Middletown, RI, died on June 21, after a long battle with breast cancer.She obtained a BA in English from Connecticut College for Women in 1971, and a Master of Library Science from UC Berkeley in California.In earlier years, she was a talented and enthusiastic downhill and cross-country skier. For the last ten years, Nancy's favorite past time was being with her grandchildren; Madelyn and Cole Kneip, and Townsend and Anderson Bowman. But "up there", in ranking of her favorites, was cruising on Ocean Drive in her Thunderbird convertible, the view of Second beach coming down Tuckerman Avenue, and lunches outside at Castle Hill Inn. Oh yeah, and then came spending time with her husband.Nancy is survived by her husband, of 47 years, CDR Gary Pavlik, U.S.C.G Retired, and her children; Emily Pavlik Kneip, MD, Meriel Bowman and Alexander Pavlik, and 4 grandchildren.A memorial Service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, June 28 , 2018 at the United Congregational Church, 524 Valley Road in Middletown.Burial will be private.In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be sent to the Brighton Center in San Antonio Texas.
