Nicholas F. Vrabel, 81, of Middletown, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025. Born on October 30, 1944, in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, he dedicated his life to family, service, and a successful career in finance.
Nicholas, lovingly known as Nick, proudly served in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1965 as a Yeoman during the Vietnam War, an experience that shaped his values and commitment to service. Following his military service, he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Point Park College, paving the way for an accomplished career as a banker. Over the years, he worked with five banks and the FDIC, ultimately co-founding BankRI, where he made significant contributions to the financial industry. In recognition of his dedication, he received the Distinguished Merit Award from the National Conference of Christians and Jews.
Nick was married to his beloved wife, Ellouise Vrabel, for 54 wonderful years. Together, they raised a family and created a home filled with love. He was also a cherished grandfather to his grandsons, Owen Semas and Jacob Matao.
A dedicated member of the Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church, Nick began his faith journey as an altar boy, demonstrating his deep commitment to his community and faith throughout his life.
Nicholas is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy; his grandchildren, Owen Semas and Jacob Matao; his daughter, Susan Vrabel; his sister, Theresa (Ginger) Hrishenkod; and a host of friends and family who will forever remember him for his kindness, integrity, and unwavering spirit.
Nicholas was preceded in death by his parents Nicholas and Helen Vrabel.

He will be dearly missed but will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
