Norman G. Pedro, 86, of Middletown died at home on November 6, 2016 surrounded by his family.He was the husband of Mary A. (Rego) Pedro to whom he was married to for 60 years.Born on May 17, 1930 in Newport, RI, he was the son of the late Joseph L. and Mary Rose (Teves) Pedro. He was a graduate of Rogers High School the class of 1949 and attended Veper George School of Art from 1949 to 1951. Norman was in the US Army from 1951 to 1953 and the Army Reserves from 1953 to 1957. From 1953 to 1954 he attended Franklin Institute for Photography. Mr. Pedro was employed by Sargent Studio from 1954 to 1958 on the Naval Base where he ran the Photography Studio and photographed the OCS school classes. He retired from Sears Roebuck and Co. in 1989 after 31 years as a salesman. Mr. Pedro enjoyed playing tennis, fishing and spending time at the beach with his family and friends.Besides his wife, he is survived by four sons and one daughter, Russell Pedro and his wife Barbara of Newport, RI, Rick Pedro of Warwick, RI, Michael Pedro of Narragansett, RI, Mary Beth Murphy and her husband Thomas of Middletown, RI, and Stephen Pedro and his wife Marcia of Manchester, NH, his four grandchildren, Mary Kate, Patrick and Liam Murphy and Gabriella Grace Pedro. He also had five step grandchildren, three step great grandchildren and two step great-great grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 11, 2016, from 4-7pm in Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.His funeral will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2012, at 9am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Jesus Savior Church, Broadway, Newport, RI.
