Patricia A. Raposa, age 78, of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2018, at Newport Hospital.
Patricia was born in Newport, RI, on August 19, 1940, to the late Edward Smith and the late Reba (Windley) Smith. She was the wife of Alfred R. Raposa.
Pat worked as the Business Manager for many years at New England Residential. She was an active volunteer at St. Barnabas from the church's opening. Known to be a friend to everybody, she was always there for you when you needed her. A devoted and loving grandmother to her three grandchildren, she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her sons, James E. DeArruda and his wife Lillian Tanaka-DeArruda of Torrance, CA, and John J. DeArruda and his wife Aileen of Portsmouth, her sister Janice Murphy of Portsmouth, her grandchildren, Jonathan, Megan and Liam DeArruda, her niece, Cheryl Engler of Cumberland, RI, and her nephew Brian Murphy of Rowlette, TX.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Joyce Borges, her brother-in-law, Donald Murphy, and her former husband, Joseph G. DeArruda.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, October 8, 2018, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at 10:00 AM at St. Barnabas, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will follow at St. Columba Cemetery, Brown's Lane, Middletown.
