Patricia M. Maroni, 75, died Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at the Royal Nursing Center in Middletown, RI, where she had been a resident since 2021.

Among family, friends, and colleagues, she was known for her talents as a writer and PR professional, love of travel, and commitment to caring for her parents later in life.

Patricia was born in Providence, RI, on May 23, 1951, to William F. and Gloria (Parrillo) Maroni, however she lived and worked for most of her adult life in the Boston area.

Her academic achievements included graduating first in her class with highest honors in Journalism & Communications from Simmons College and later earning an M.Ed. from Lesley University.

While still in college, she began her career at the Providence Journal and the Boston Globe, interviewing and writing feature stories on such subjects as folk legend Pete Seeger, actress Sandy Dennis, and aspiring young musicians at the R.I. Music Educators Association camp.

She went on to be published in other publications including the Boston Business Journal. Over more than three decades, Patricia built a career in communications and marketing, with particular focus on technology.

She directed or managed media programs at Polaroid, Honeywell, Massport, the Wang Center for the Performing Arts, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Later in life, she became a consultant for a wide variety of business and non-profit clients.

Among her roles and recognitions, Patricia served as President of Women in World Trade/Boston and on the board of the International Institute of Boston, was a participant on a U.S. government-sponsored Japanese Business Study Mission to Tokyo, and the recipient of the New England Women's Press Association Award.

Having studied in Florence, Italy, during her junior year in college, she became an enthusiast of Italian style and culture. Fluent in Italian, she helped organize CyberTrust's Global Customer Symposium in Rome and was a lifelong supporter of Save Venice Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to preserving Venice's artistic and architectural heritage.

She is survived by her brother William J. Maroni of Bethesda, MD. A memorial service will be held at a future date.
