Paul Mayer, age 57, of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully at home on May 11, 2019.
Paul was born in Indianapolis, IN to Emily (Fish) Mayer of Middletown and the late Harold Mayer. Paul was the husband of Tracey Mayer of Portsmouth for the last 28 years.
Paul grew up in Tiverton and lived all of his life on Aquidneck Island. He loved the outdoors, and worked for many years as a young man as an offshore fisherman and lobsterman. He also worked for many years at Newport Shipyard, until he opened his own business, Mayer and Sons General Contractors. Paul enjoyed time on his motorcycle, loud music, and many fishing trips with his family and friends.
Paul is survived by his wife Tracey Mayer, his mother Emily Mayer, his children Jennifer Lynn King of Tiverton, Fawn Sullivan of Fall River, Joshua Sullivan of Fall River, his stepsons Randy Tavares and Dylan Tavares both of Middletown and his nephew Ricky Walker of Newport. He also leaves a brother William Mayer of Florida and a sister Sandra Cordeiro of Connecticut, a sister in law Janet Mayer-Walker of Newport and among many nieces and nephews and cousins, his cousin Cheryl Davenport.
He was preceded in death by his father Harold Mayer and a sister Lori Gensel.
Visiting hours will be held Saturday, May 18, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Celebration of Life to begin at 4:30 in the funeral home.
