Paul William Sullivan

Paul William Sullivan passed away on July 2, 2018, in Melbourne, Florida after a 4 month battle with cancer. Born and raised in Newport, RI, he was the son of the late William J. and Rose (Pierini) Sullivan.He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda (Amaral) Sullivan, his son Brian (Amy) Sullivan of Tiverton and two grandchildren, Gavin and Catherine Sullivan of Tiverton. Also survived by his siblings Patricia (Sam) Juliano of Haywood, CA, Eileen (Bob) Dufault of Middletown, RI and James (Lanni) Sullivan of Newport, RI. He also leaves behind many nieces and newphews and great nieces and nephews who will always remember his wonderful smile and big hugs.After serving four years in the US Air Force, Paul attended the University of Texas at El Paso Texas and the University of Rhode Island. He went to work at NETC and later at NUWC where he worked for 30 years. He retired as Division head for Budget in the Comptrollers Department at NUWC Division, Newport.Tired of shoveling snow Paul and Linda moved to Florida in April 2013.Calling hours will be held on Monday July 9, 2018 from 4-7 pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Paul's funeral will be held on Tuesday July 10. 2018, at 9:00 am in the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 am in St. Joseph's Church, Mann Avenue and Broadway in Newport.Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery, Brown's Lane in Middletown.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Wuesthoff Brevard Hospice and Palliative Care, 661 Eyster Boulevard, Rockledge, FL 32955.
