Philip Rondina

November 23, 1942 — May 7, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the final bell rang for Philip J. Rondina, Sr., a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, after a long illness on May 7, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on November 23, 1942, in Newport, Rhode Island, Philip was a proud member of the community, residing in Middletown, Rhode Island, where he spent many years making a difference.

Philip dedicated much of his life to the noble service of firefighting and rescue. As a retired Lieutenant with the Middletown Fire Department, he was known for his kind heart and giving nature. His passion for fire prevention and safety extended beyond his time as a firefighter; he was an early EMT and proudly wore Badge 13. Philip didn't just serve; he taught, sharing his knowledge and skills as an instructor, perpetuating a legacy of courage and commitment to helping others. He retired after many years of service in 1988.

In addition to his dedication to the fire service, Philip was a man of many talents. He owned Colonial Chimney Sweep, combining his entrepreneurial spirit with his love for serving the community. Whether it was through his work or simply through his presence, he touched many lives.

Philip's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Rondina, and their children, Philip (Rhonda), Christopher, Matthew (Mitch) and Christina. "Papa" to his grandchildren, Jordan, Graham, Lexi, Kailey and Asher. He also leaves behind his brothers, Paul (Dorinda) and Peter.

Philip was preceded in death by his parents; Philip and Irene Rondina, and his brothers, Johnny and Davey.

Philip will be remembered for his infectious smile, generous spirit, and unwavering dedication to his family and community. He truly lived life to the fullest, and we celebrate his remarkable journey.

Funeral services for Phil will be private. In the spirit of Philip's giving nature, those wishing to celebrate his life can consider contributions to Middletown Rescue Wagon Fund, C/O Middletown Fire Department, 239 Wyatt Rd. Middletown, RI 02842.

As we say goodbye to Philip, we cherish the memories and the indelible mark he has left on so many hearts.

"One hand for yourself and one hand for the fire." -Philip J Rondina, Sr.
