- Phyllis Helena Stewart Moberg, 93, formerly of Blenheim Newport, Middletown and High Street, Jamestown, died Thursday, June 6, 2002 at Forest Farm Health Care Center Middletown, RI.She was the wife of the late Erik Moberg. Born in Boston, MA on November 2, 1908, she was the daughter of the late John T. and Grace Noonan Stewart.Mrs. Moberg was a 1933 graduate of Waltham Training School for Nurses. She began her career working in the Boston Lying In Hospital. Then worked in the Waltham Hospital and Taunton Modern Hospital in Obstetrics. She then joined the Army in 1945 and served in Germany, Japan, Guam, Japan, and the Philippines. She retired in 1965 as Major, then worked in the Newport Naval Hospital, Jamestown school and Camp Seaside in Jamestown. She was active in the Order of the Eastern Star, Conanicut Garden Club, Friends of the Jamestown Library, St. Matthews Parrish, Jamestown Housing Authority and Past President of the National Woman?s Club of Jamestown which continued the fight for women?s rights.She is survived by a stepdaughter Carol Curt of Newport, RI, ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.She was the stepmother of the late Adele Garand and the grandmother of the late Donald Dupre Jr.A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 24, 2002, at 10:00AM in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter RI.
