Ralph C. Craft

Ralph C. Craft, 70, of Newport died Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence, RI. He was the husband of Dawn K. (Koprivica) Craft.Dr. Craft was born May 19, 1946 in St. Louis, MO, the son of the late Ralph B. and Marie (Moriarty) Craft. Ralph C. Craft is first a husband, father and grandfather. He retired from the Pharmaceutical Industry in 2005. He held several different positions during his career, including President of the Boehringer Ingelheim Cares Foundation and Director of Corporate Business planning for the company in the United States.He is a former member of the New York Academy of Sciences, The Society of Research Administrators, and Psi Chi, the National Honor Society for Psychologists. He served in the United States Army from August of 1968 to June of 1970 was awarded the Bronze Star, the Army Commendation Medal for Valor with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Purple Heart. He is a lifetime member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and a member of the Rhode Island Governors Advisory Council for Veterans Affairs.Dr. Craft is an Ambassador for the New England Organ Bank, the oldest independent organ procurement organization (OPO) in the country and the federally-designated OPO for all or part of the six New England states. He also is a volunteer for the Rhode Island Organ Donation Awareness Collation, a non-profit organization comprised of people living in Rhode Island and nearby Southeastern Massachusetts who are concerned with the critical need for organ donation. Dr. Craft holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, a dual Master of Arts degree in Social and Organizational Psychology and a Doctorate in Business Administration. Topics of his publications have included organizational decision-making, strategic planning and board of director performance, focusing on non-profit organizations. Besides his wife of 47 years, he is survived by his children, Ralph B. Craft of Portsmouth, RI, Sean T. Craft of Portsmouth, RI, and Rebecca D. Moore of Bethlehem, CT, his sisters, Joyce Cross of St. Charles, MO and his eight grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his sister Marie Dolan.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 24 from 4:00-7:00pm in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Funeral services will be Monday, July 25 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00am in Jesus Savior Church, Broadway, Newport.
