Ramon Elordi-Churruca, 84, of Middletown RI died October 27, 2025.
He was the husband of Maria Anacleta Lopez De Elordi. Born in Markina, the Basque Country (Spain) on June 8, 1941. He was the son of Juan Elordi and Josefa Churruca.
Ramon became a prominent figure in the basque sport of Jai Alai along with his brother Pedro early in his youth. His success brought him over to the United States. He eventually became the players' manager and recruiter at the Newport Jai Alai for the bulk of his career. His beloved wife, Maria, joined him in the United States to start a life together. They had one son, Juan Luis Elordi. Ramon also loved his vegetable garden, fishing and making Spanish dishes like Paella. Most of all he was a true family man. He loved his wife and son and would do anything for them.
Ramon is survived by his wife, Maria, of 52 years marriage, his son Juan Luis Elordi of Tampa FL, and his sisters Maria Pilar Elordi Txurruka and Maria Rosario Elordi Txurruka of the Basque Country (Spain). Ramon is preceded in death by father Juan Elordi; mother Josefa Churruca; brother Pedro Elordi and brother Gregorio Elordi.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, November 03, 2025 from 4-7 PM with a funeral service promptly follow at 7-8 pm in the funeral home at Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, Rhode Island.
