Reginald Blaine Cooper, 83, of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, passed away on July 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 22, 1943, in Sistersville, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Paul Cooper and Mabel (Lazear) Cooper of Paden City, WV.
A proud United States Navy veteran, Reggie was the owner of Aquidneck Building Movers & Riggers, where for more than 50 years he built one of New England's most respected building moving companies. Through his craftsmanship and dedication, he helped preserve many historic homes and buildings throughout Aquidneck Island and beyond.
Reggie was known for his honesty, humility, integrity, and tireless work ethic. His word was his bond, and he earned the respect of everyone who knew him. Outside of work, he enjoyed skiing, golfing, biking, hiking, cooking and, most of all, spending time with his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce Cooper of 60 years and his daughters, Ronda Vye and Shelley Cooper; his grandchildren, Stephen Vye, Branden Vye, Cooper Spezzano, and Taylor Spezzano, and his brother, Keith Cooper. He was predeceased by his parents and ten siblings.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, July 26 from 1:00pm-3:00pm at Connors Funeral Home in Portsmouth, RI. A memorial service will follow at 3:30pm in the Connors Funeral Home.
