Richard D. Turner, age 82, of North Brookfield, MA, formerly of Portsmouth, RI, passed away on March 12, 2019, at home surrounded by his family.
Richard was born in East Providence, RI, on February 22, 1937, to the late Joshua Turner and the late Adeline (Nunes) Turner. He was the husband of Patricia Gail (DeMoranville)Turner, and was formerly married for 51 years to the late Patricia (Tremblay) Turner.
Richard graduated from New Bedford High School and entered the Naval Reserves in 1954, actively serving from 1956-58. He worked as a Draftsman at Raytheon in Portsmouth and later Gulton Industries in East Greenwich as a Drafting and Design Manager. Mr. Turner also opened and operated Miniature Motors of Newport and Die-Cast Collectibles Store located on Broadway before retiring in 1999.
Besides his wife, Gail, he is survived by his son, Craig Turner and his wife Lisa of Mapleville, RI, his son, Dwight Turner and his wife Barbra of New Hampshire, and his brother, Russell Turner and his wife Triss of Weymouth, MA.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, March 18, 2019, from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM, at the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial, at 10:00 AM, at St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. His burial will follow at St. Marys Churchyard, 324 East Main Road, Portsmouth.
