Richard Penrose Morgan, 69, of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, died on June 28, 2025. He was the cherished husband of Cynthia (Drowne) Morgan. Born in Renfrew, Ontario, Canada on August 10, 1955, he was the son of Welsh born parents, Royston and Audrey (Dalby) Morgan.
As a youth, Richard spent summers on the Pembrokeshire coast in Wales, causing mischief with friends, and taking pride in his family's rich Welsh heritage. He would go on to attend The Ohio State University, where he would also take pride in becoming part of Buckeye Nation. Together with those who would become lifelong friends and Brutus, he would cheer loudly every gameday, whether from his couch or The Horseshoe itself. From OSU he transitioned to his professional life, where he built an esteemed career in Banking, specifically Risk Management at Citizens Bank. For a man who enjoyed such risk prone activities such as Canadian hockey, double black diamond skiing, 500 mile dirt bike treks, and fast cars, it was a nice juxtaposition. In-between, when he wasn't managing risk for others, or taking them himself, he enjoyed reading, especially about history. This would become a cornerstone of him developing into a strong intellectual, with a penchant for idioms such as "Speak softly and carry a big stick" and "Actions speak louder than words."
Richard loved being around his family whether it was traveling with his wife, playing Euchre, or watching the latest sci-fi movie. He will be missed greatly by his loved ones. Richard is survived by his wife Cynthia; his sister Karin Otto and her son Matthew; his children Chris Morgan (Stef Perry), Carla Greichen (Patrick Greichen), and Kyle Rich (Danielle Dutra), and granddaughter, Amelia Greichen. Richard is preceded in death by his parents.
