Robert D. Silvia Sr

Robert D. Silvia Sr., 71, of Portsmouth, died Thursday, July 10, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family.He was born in Newport, RI on August 3, 1942, he was the son of the late George Silvia and Angelina (Morris) Gray.Robert grew up in Newport then attended St. Andrews School in Barrington until he enlisted in the USAF where he served for four years. He later took a job at Raytheon where he spent his entire career until retiring in 2002. During this time he worked primarily in the transducers department. Robert enjoyed golfing with his "buds" as well as fishing and gardening. He most enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family. Robert was a fan of the Red Sox and the New York Giants. He is survived by wife Mary Lynne (Pascoe) Silvia of Portsmouth, RI, his children Beth Silvia-Aramendi (Jon) of Amston, CT, Robert D. Silvia Jr. (Marc) of Cranston, RI, David J. Silvia (Megan) of Wilton, CT, and Rebecca L. Courtney (Brendan) of Middletown, RI. He leaves his grandchildren Lander Lorea Aramendi, and Trevor Cole Silvia. He leaves his aunt Irene DeLoura, sister-in-law Ann McFarland, brother-in-law Peter McFarland, a niece Erin and a nephew Ryan, as well as many cousins. His funeral services will be held on Monday, July 14, 2014 with visitation from 9:00am to 11:00am in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM in the funeral home.
