Robert J. Boiani

Robert J. Boiani, 85, of Portsmouth passed away, Saturday, April 28, 2018 in Newport Hospital. He was the husband of the late Margaret (Peggy) D. (Moitoza) Boiani.Born in Newport, he was the son of the late Adriano and Novemia (Morutori) Boiani.Mr. Boiani served in the Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He worked on the Newport Navy Base for 31 years as an Electrical Technician retiring in 2000. When he and his brother, Larry, were younger they were avid saltwater fisherman, fishing off The Ocean Drive almost every weekend. He loved spending time with his family. His favorite thing to do was go skiing with his family at Cannon Mountain, or any mountain for that matter. He skied until he was 80. He and his beloved wife, Peggy, loved to travel often. He leaves, one son: Albert L. Boiani and his wife Andrea of Newport, RI three daughters: Ann Marie Greenman and her husband Larry of Portsmouth, RI, Denise Boiani-Moyers and her husband Bill of Goldsboro, NC and Dianne Reed of Newport, RI, and also survived by his grandchildren, Justin and his wife Jamie, Erin and her husband Anthony, Brian, Nicholas, Matthew, Emma and Billy, as well as three great grandchildren, Gavin, Josclyn and Jaedyn. He was the brother of the late Joseph, William, Francis and Lawrence Boiani, Eva Martin, Natalie Boiani, Gilda Huppee and Elaine Boiani.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway in Newport.
