Robert Lee Stafford

Robert Lee Stafford, 80, of Portsmouth died Monday, October 31, 2016 at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence, RI. He was the husband of Rebecca I. (Igo) Stafford.Born on September 27, 1936, in Pulaski, VA, he was the son of the late Garnett and Dorothy (Morehead) Stafford. Bobby grew up in Pearisburg, VA where he served as a volunteer firefighter for 15 years. He worked as an Iron Worker for 15 years for Cleveland Ironworkers Local 27. He moved to Rhode Island in 1971, and worked for Chestnut Hill Realty at their Bayview Estates in Portsmouth as a painter.Besides his wife of 45 years, he is survived by his sons, Scott Stafford of Rich Creek, VA and Mark Stafford and his wife Audrey of Portsmouth, RI, and three grandchildren, Jason, Vanessa and Addi.At his request all services will be private.In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 or to the Alzheimer's Association, RI Chapter, 245 Waterman Street, Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906.
