Obituary

For Robert Michael Gray, life was best spent outdoors, whether on the open ocean, fishing a quiet lake, or carving his way down a snow-covered mountain. Robert, 63, passed away on October 26, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of adventures and memories shared with those he loved.

Born on August 12, 1963, to Walter and Sandy Gray, Robert had a lifelong connection to the water. He spent many years working as a commercial fisherman in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, turning his love of the ocean into a career. He was also the owner of Gray Painting, bringing his hardworking nature and independent spirit to his own business.

Robert's adventurous spirit wasn't limited to the ocean. He loved hunting, ice fishing, snowmobiling, skiing, and snowboarding. For more than 20 years, he shared his passion for the mountains as a snowmobile tour guide at Killington snowmobile tours. No matter the season, Robert was happiest outside, finding his next adventure.

One of Robert's greatest joys was sharing the things he loved with others, especially children. He was an incredible uncle who loved teaching, encouraging, and introducing the younger generation to the outdoors. Whether passing along a new skill or sharing an adventure, Robert took genuine pleasure in helping kids discover the excitement of trying something new.

Robert leaves behind his mother, Sandy Gray; his brothers, David Gray and his wife, Stephanie, and Johnny Gray; and his beloved nephew and niece, Andrew and Julia Gray. He was predeceased by his father, Walter Gray.

Family and friends are invited to gather for calling hours on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Rd., Portsmouth. Burial will be private.
