Robert W. Pollitt

Robert W. Pollitt, age 81, of Newport died Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Newport Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born April 2, 1936 in Newport, RI. He is the son of the late Nicholas and the late Christine (Cordeiro) Pollitt. He married Eleanor Lee Hamill. He is survived by his wife: Eleanor Lee (Hamill) Pollitt ; and his three sons Nicholas Pollitt; Robert Pollitt Jr; Howard Pollitt and his three stepchildren, Sherri Willey, Nicol Marshall and Joseph Marshall and their families. He leaves four grandchildren Christine, Howie, Jake and Ayeden and four step grandchildren; Andra, Victoria, Eliza and C.J. He also has a great grandaughter Ariela and two step grandsons Aiden and Austin. He was predeceased by his grand daughter Angelica and his sister Dorothy. He has three nieces Christina, Cindy and Jill.Bob was a member of the V.F.W. 4487, past President of the Middletown Lions Club. He owned Mobil gas station and Pollitts Towing for many years.He retired from the Newport Housing Authority and was the greeter at Home Depot for ten years. Bob had a passion for singing and was well known throughout the community for his incredible singing voice. He was an antique car buff and enjoyed attending the local car shows.Calling hours will be Thursday, June 8 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.The funeral will be held 10:00 am on Friday, June 9 at Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI with Rev. Francis OLoughlin officiating. Burial will follow in Newport Memorial Park, Middletown.
