Roland Banville, Jr., 73, of Tiverton, Rhode Island, died on Monday, October 26, 2026. He was the husband of Marilyn (Lacerda) Banville. Born in Newport, RI on November 12, 1952, He was the son of the late Roland and Isabelle (Pacheco) Banville.
Roland, aka 'Frenchie' to friends and family, began work as a young man on the Lacerda Potato Farm in Portsmouth. He soon found a position with the Colonial Casket Company out of Fall River, as a delivery driver and customer service rep, helping many local funeral homes. He enjoyed the relationships he built over a 20 year career. He then began a new position with Alden Yachts in Portsmouth, working in the shipbuilding industry. Here he could use his hands, where he could build or fix just about anything. He took great pride in being a part of this team. Unfortunately he had to retire early due to an injury. Throughout his life, he and Marilyn enjoyed camping with their family. One of their favorite spots was Canoe River Campground. He and Marilyn loved spending this time with their grandchildren, from teaching them hard work, chores like raking the yard, or helping out, or silly fun like back scratcher wars. One of his favorite places to be was out on his motorcycle and being outdoors.
Roland is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marilyn, their two sons, Roland A. Banville III (Michelle Moore) and Timothy Banville (Nina Banville), his sisters Mary Pacheco (the late Eddie Pacheco), Marianne Raymos (David Raymos) and Cheryl Kirka (John Kirka), two aunts, Judy and Rolanda, and his beloved grandchildren Tearney and Aiden, Jonathan, Joey and Jack. Roland is preceded in death by his parents.
