Born in Somerville, Massachusetts on June 26, 1946, he was the son of the late George Lincoln Moore and Edna (Hedwig Nowik) Rita Moore.
In high school Ron excelled in track and field and graduated from Somerville High School.
At 17 years old, he joined the United States Navy as an Electrician's Mate and served several tours in Danang, Vietnam. His naval career spanned 30 years, being stationed in Naples, Italy, Norfolk, Virginia and his favorite place Newport, Rhode Island where he retired and was Honorably Discharged as Command Master Chief of Surface Warfare Officer's School. His most memorable tours of duty were aboard the USS Capodanno FF-1093 & USS Piedmont AD-17. He was also a lead instructor at the Naval Instructor Training School at the Officer Candidate School and the Senior Enlisted Academy in Newport, RI.
Upon his retirement, he was happily employed at NETC, Newport, as an electrician. It was a job he truly loved where he took great pride in his work, enjoyed the friends he made along the way and the sense of purpose it brought to him.
He was a Master Mason at St. John's Lodge #1 AF & AM, in Portsmouth, RI, a member of the Elks in Newport, RI and a past Commander and member at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4487 in Middletown.
He is predeceased by his first wife, Evelyn L. (Plet) Moore of 40 years, and leaves behind his current wife, Joan M. Francis of Middletown and her children Jacob Francis, Jordan Cruz, Jaylynn Ford, and her grandson Carter Francis. He also leaves his son Norman Moore and wife Lisa of Cape Coral, FL., his daughter Traci-Ayn Clays and husband Paul of Bristol, RI., his sister Janice Moore of Groton, MA., and two nephews, Gerald Cremin of Athol MA., and Ronald Cremin of Groton, MA. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Ryan Moore, Amanda Moore, Delaney Clays, and Carrigan Clays.
Ron was quite man who loved to read, enjoyed the outdoors, and socializing with family and friends. He had a big generous heart and would help anyone in need. He will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Arrangements have been made with the U.S. Navy for a burial at sea with full naval honors.
